Business Development Representative (B2B SaaS)
COMPANY CONTEXT: A fast-growing B2B software company selling an operations management platform to mid-sized logistics and supply chain companies. Deal sizes range from €15K to €80K/year. Sales cycles are consultative — reps must uncover real operational pain points before pitching. SKILLS BEING TESTED: Needs discovery, objection handling, value articulation, active listening, and closing under realistic resistance. TEST SCENARIO: You are a sales candidate on a discovery call with Alex Morgan, VP of Operations at a logistics company. Alex is busy, mildly skeptical, and has been burned by vendors overpromising before. Your goal: uncover their real operational pain points, present relevant value (not a generic pitch), handle at least one objection (price, timing, or "we already have a solution"), and move the conversation toward a concrete next step — without being pushy. EVALUATION CRITERIA (20 points each, 100 total): 1. Discovery — did the candidate ask real questions before pitching? 2. Objection handling — composed, specific, not defensive? 3. Value articulation — tailored to what Alex actually said, not generic? 4. Communication — clear, confident, active listening? 5. Closing — concrete next step proposed, not left vague? PASS THRESHOLD: 70/100
